The Community Bus, a registered charity run by volunteers, is a wonderful local resource, enabling residents of the Rame Peninsula to access the parts other transport does not reach. There are monthly scheduled services to Truro, Tavistock, Liskeard, Saltash and Plymouth, with pick up points in Cremyll, Millbrook, Kingsand, Cawsand & Freathy, with occasional organised excursions. The bus is also available for hire by local groups and clubs.

The year to September 2006 has been a successful one for the bus. Income from our regular trips, excursions and hire reached £3,900. This is a big increase on previous levels. This is predominately due to our replacement bus, purchased in August 2005. It is much more comfortable and more reliable, so more customers are attracted and we can offer more services.

In order to continue to provide a reliable and comfortable service, we will need to replace our bus again in about four years’ time. Although income from bus operations is improving, it will not on its own provide the capital required and will need to be supplemented by fundraising. We will be running several events in the coming year, some in Millbrook and some in Cawsand, and hope we will continue to receive your support.  In addition, we do encourage people to become ‘Friends of the Bus’ and make a regular annual contribution. If you would like to become a ‘Friend’, contact Sheila Weetman, see below.

Our regular services, excursions and fundraising events are always advertised with posters on Millbrook notice boards and shop windows. If there are additional communication routes or contact points that we could use, please let us know.

Thank you to all our customers and supporters in the Millbrook area.
